When we went on vacation to Florida last summer, we were expecting to hate the state but love the theme park we were going to. In fact, it was quite the opposite. I mean, we loved the theme park and had a blast for five days, but after that five days we were all kind of burnt out on the rides and the music, so we decided to take a family trip to the everglades. When we got to Everglades city, FL, airboat rides were being advertised on a billboard we passed on the freeway, and my teenagers got really excited about the prospect of a tour in the river. We took the exit that the billboard mentioned and found the Everglades City, FL airboat rides place. We made a reservation, got on this big, powerful raft like boat, and headed out really slowly through the swamp. Once we were clear of the building, though, the guide kicked up the power and we took off like a shot over that water. The tour was amazing, we saw what Florida was really about and what it really looked like. The river was dense and full of crocodiles, and we saw many exotic birds and fish, too! Share
