When was the last time someone made it onto the album charts with a song about school spirit? It happened at least once that I know of, but not in the last few decades. Lately, it seems that the most popular outlook to have about school is that it is a necessary but painful part of existence. While some people might think that students only go to school to be with friends, and they would prefer to be with their friends somewhere they could have more liberties--this is not universally true. As strange as it might seem, school spirit is alive and well today in certain schools around this country. What is the difference between a school whose students have school spirit and a school whose students have none? To a certain extent, the answer is in how much effort administrators, teachers, and staff put into cultivating spirit. While initial efforts to instill school spirit might be less than encouraging, it is possible to bolster school spirit in students. School spirit items can help. Some as simple as school spirit shakers or rally towels can make a huge impact on how students feel about their school. As they say, an epic journey begins with a single step, and the best way to cultivate school spirit, is to start. Share
